A Relaxed and Elegant Farm Wedding in Devon
Olivia and Joe’s Hilltop Celebration

There is something truly special about countryside weddings, and Olivia and Joe’s was a perfect example. The day was elegant, sentimental, and full of relaxed charm. Their celebration began at Olivia’s family farm in Devon and took place across two locations that held deep personal meaning.

The ceremony was held at the chapel at Blundell’s School, where Olivia spent her school years. It was a heartfelt setting, filled with warmth and tradition. Olivia got ready at home on the family farm, surrounded by her mum and close relatives. This calm and familiar environment was the perfect start to the day.

A Hilltop Barley Field Reception

After the ceremony, guests travelled to the family farm for a unique and beautiful reception. A sailcloth marquee had been set up on top of a hill, carved neatly into a barley field. The setting offered sweeping views of the Devonshire countryside. Guests made the gentle walk up the hill, and refreshments were waiting for them at the top. The weather stayed overcast but dry all day, which made for ideal filming conditions.

During his speech, Joe, who is originally from flat Lincolnshire, joked about the uphill walk. He mentioned that a few Lincolnshire farmers looked slightly out of breath after the climb. He also shared his amusement at having cut a perfect patch out of a good barley field to make space for the tent. This moment of humour highlighted the day’s relaxed tone and down-to-earth nature.
